Educational Scholarship

Voices of Tomorrow Scholarship

Syracuse Chorale believes in supporting young people as they move forward with their education. This $600 scholarship is awarded to a Central New York high school senior with an anticipated graduation date of June 2025 who plans to continue participation in musical activities after high school graduation, including choral singing. Chorale has given the competitive annual award since 2005 as a way to encourage young musicians to participate in community arts programs as adults. We will be awarding one $600 scholarship in 2025.

Sammi Bullock, a 2024 graduate of West Genesee High School has been named recipient of Syracuse Chorale’s 2025 Voices of Tomorrow Scholarship.  Sammi, the daughter of Heather Bullock, plans to study Vocal Performance at Ithaca College starting in the Fall of 2025.  A talented singer, dancer, and multi-instrumentalist, Sammi has taken every opportunity available to hone her skills in preparation for her college career. As a student at West Genesee, Sammi has been a valuable member of the Chorale & Treble Chorus, Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, & Wind Ensemble, just to name a few.   She has also regularly participated in the school’s musical theatre program including starring as Ariel in The Little Mermaid, Mrs. Peacock in Clue, and Duchess Estonia Dulworth in Nice Work (If You Can Get It).   Sammi was selected to participate in NYSSMA All-State choruses in 2023 & 2024, achieving perfect audition scores and was a featured soloist in past years’ Kaleidoscope Festivals and Swingin’ Jazz Festivals  Outside of school, she is a member of the Syracuse Youth Wind Symphony and the Camillus Community Choir.

Sammi has studied voice under the tutelage of Carol Sauve, musical theatre with Kristyn Sperduti & Tony Alvaro, and dance (both musical theatre and tap) under the guidance of Nina Scrimale & Natasha Skidmore.  She is driven, focused, and always strives to get the best out of herself and her fellow students.   Anthony Alvaro, Sammi’s high school vocal teacher, stated “she is one of the most gifted musical students I have had the pleasure of working with throughout my 25-year career.” and “A truly versatile and well-rounded individual…I believe that Samantha will be successful in whatever she sets her sights on.”

We congratulate Sammi Bullock on being awarded the 2025 Voices of Tomorrow scholarship
